Grant Rennie of New World Hokitika reckons moving to the West Coast 20 years ago is one of the best things he’s ever done. But, along with three other ‘Grants’ from New World stores around the country, he’s about to do something else that gives him a real buzz.

Grant was recently chosen by the New World marketing team to be one of the faces of the Win a Wish campaign, celebrating the supermarket’s birthday. “I’m one of four Grants who work for New World in charge of granting prizes to our customers. I’m the ‘Grant’ who’s helping to give away cash prizes – and there isn’t anyone I know who wouldn’t be happy with a boost to the bank account. ”

Being part of a national ad campaign isn’t an everyday experience for a grocery manager, and Grant was chuffed to be asked. “My friends think I should be handing out my autograph now before I get really famous as part of a TV campaign. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity – it’s probably a once in a lifetime thing. You never know, I could be ‘discovered’ now. But, I’m pretty happy with my life here on the Coast.”

It’s not the first time New World has tapped into the thousands of employees for an ad campaign and given there’s so much talent on tap, it’s not likely to be the last. “We have a wonderful team of people who relish doing something completely different and we never have a shortage of volunteers to be part of our campaigns,” says Stephanie Pyne, Head of Retail Marketing Foodstuffs.

There are four ‘Grants’ granting wishes as part of the promotion:
Cash Grant: Grant Rennie, New World Hokitika
Gadget Grant: Cameron Grant, New World Newlands, Wellington
Fun Grant: Tayla Grant, New World Milford, Auckland
Foodie Grant: Reyna Grant, New World Papakura, Auckland

Shoppers will receive one entry with every $40 spent in stores to be into win a prize from one of our birthday Grants. For full terms and conditions, visit Prizes will be drawn between 23rd – 30th May 2017.
